CULDROSE – 14.30
One of the fairest tracks in the country I can’t see many angles to the racing at Salisbury so I am going for Ralf Beckett’s only runner. Salisbury is one of his better tracks and over the last 5 years he comes out as joint trainer. The jockey also does well here with a 20% strike rate in the last twelve months. Wufud the odds on favourite might be good enough but at the price of 8/11 I would not put my money on him (though watch out for the pros lumping on) in fact I might lay him.
MADRINHO OR COVERHAM – 17.30
Don’t normally do this but Coverham beat subsequent winner Tawafoq in a close finish at Newmarket and only has a 4lb rise to deal with while Madrinho has run well especially last time at Haydock and could have a race like this in him. Both jockeys are capable. Have a look at the betting for inspiration but don’t go mad on the stakes!!
AHLAN BIL EMARATI – 14.15
Being drawn in the outside stall is a distinct advantage and combine that with the fact that this horse has two runs under the belt (he is one of only three runners with experience and the other two have one run each) means I think he will run to better than his current odds of 5/1 win or evens a place on Betfair Exchange.
LEXINGTON TIMES – 15.15
This horse has been on my radar for some time. He is pretty useful but looses his races at the start. Drawn 17 of 17 he will have the stands rail to go up. Thirsk 6f start is downhill for about 2f before levelling and coming up a small rise to the finish. I’m hoping Lexington Times can break well enough, get a position on the rails trailing someone like Straighttothepoint and then come home with a strong finish. He’s been running in better company and it is the first time he has been dropped to Cl5. Just hope the track is not too sharp for him. Currently 18/1 on the exchanges he is over priced on his form to date and you could even consider a 6/4+ 5 places bet?
FANFAIR – 19.50
A C&D winner from Richard Hannon’s stable who has been beaten by Rocksette at Brighton. He was held up that day and got stuck behind a wall of horses only making modest headway in the last 1/2f when it was all over. Getting a 3lb pull for 5l and back on the Lingfield polytrack (which suites hold up horses over this distance) I think he can reverse those positions. More of a threat could come from C&D winner Ashzuri.
