FREE TIPS OF THE DAY at Kempton 6th June 2018

InsideTraxs provides free tips with rationale for KEMPTON tonight:

I know I bang on about false favourites but Beyond Reason is currently 4/6 favourite. What’s he got going for her – well she’s impeccably bred as you’d expect coming from Godolphin, she’s had one reasonable run at Newmarket (nice wide galloping track) and she has a trainer and jockey with strike rates of 29% and 26% respectively here at Kempton. Not bad I hear you cry. OK so what’s against her – well she was favourite last time and got beat. She is in the outside box and so may wind up at the back or without cover or going very wide or a combination of those things. So once again it seems sensible to oppose as the upside is very low if you back her but high if you lay.

A likeable sort who has found getting his head in front difficult. Dropping therefore in the weights and showing signs of form in higher grade he might have been offered an opportunity here against relatively weak rivals and from a good inside draw. There are several who could push the selection so don’t lump on this one.

I like looking for one of the high profile really good jockeys to pick up a ride from a trainer they occasionally ride for on a horse which has done well under a “normal” jockey or an apprentice. William Buick is certainly one of the top jocks and he is taking the ride on David Brown’s charge after Trading Punches has run well in his last two outings (one Fibresand, one Tapeta) running on well in the final furlong over 1m2f at Newcastle last time out. This is his first crack at 1m4f and if he gets it, should be in the mix. He’s a decent price at 10/1 and so if you take top 3 place on Betfair you can get 3/1.

Since I posted yesterday the horse shortened to 1/2 favourite with a pile of smart money on this favourite. I need to advise in future to watch for the in the know money coming in 10 minutes or so before the start as they will have watched the gallops and compare the horse to others with official ratings and seen just how good it is. Also this was a Godolphin, Charlie Appleby, William Buick affair so I should advise to take particular note of money for them.

Beaten by a highly gambled on Treacherous. However I just didn’t get the riding of Sir Roderick who was nicely placed going into the straight (a close second) however his jockey sat motionless on him, even though he was being passed, until they got to the 1f pole (when he dropped to 5th) and then when ridden stayed on to be third. It was as if the orders from the trainer was to come late as possible and the jockey stuck to the letter of those orders. NOT GREAT.

Don’t know why Buick wasn’t riding. Jim Crowley took the ride and dropped the horse out the back and was already pushing away on Trading Punches 4f out and had to use the whip which means the horse really wasn’t having a good time (didn’t like the track or distance or just having an off day). They went a good gallop and two horses pull right away from the rest and Trading Punches ran through a few beaten horses but Crowley stopped doing anything about 1 &1/2l out. I think he needs to go back to Southwell or Newcastle where he might have a chance of staying the pace. HOWEVER please note that if the reason I have tipped a horse is because of the jockey and then that jockey doesn’t take the ride for whatever reason then best not to go with it.
