Aiden O’Brien won the Oaks yesterday and has another 5 runners in this afternoon’s Investec Derby. As yesterday I would trust Ryan Moore to choose the best of the five but he didn’t. Now his issue is the draw. As I explain in my Youtube post “Don’t bet on the Oaks or Derby without seeing this” being drawn 1 means your horse has to go uphill, travel further and will find it hard to get cover and therefore settle. So a major disadvantage maybe worth 5l or more so either Saxon Warrior is a complete superstar or he’s going to get beat. Firstly in this situation he is not value at odds on. Second I think it’s worth taking a chance on DEE EX BEE who has Silvestre De Sousa on board and comes from the in-form Mark Johnston yard. At 33/1 he offers the best value bet as he was only beaten 1/2l by Young Rascal (currently 8/1) at Chester (had to race wide from a high draw and got bumped 1f out). He may not win but I think he will give a great account of himself and is certainly worth a place or each way bet. I will also be laying Saxon Warrior.
