NAP OF THE DAY

The NAP OF THE DAY runs at Wolverhampton in the 7.00.

HAVANA ROCKET

This horse won well last time out and showed a liking for the game in doing so from the front. He should have further improvement now handicapping.
Andrew Balding is back in form after a bit of a drought by his standards and now has a 30% strike rate in the last 14 days. Oisin Murphy is fantastic (and I hope will be champion jockey either this year or next) and is also flying at the moment.

BACK TO LAY:
The Back to Lay runs at Wolverhampton in the 5.30.

UNION ROSE

In a race where no-one will want to lead Union Rose can and has. Not his preferred style he won at Bath where he de facto led for more than half the race and led early in a race at Wolverhampton just over a year ago and went on to win that as well.

Used to competing (and winning) in Class 4 races he’s only 3lbs higher than when he won a Class 5 at this C&D in January.

His price currently is far too high at 17.0 (could get better even than this?).

The chart below shows that he generally trades shorter in running (17/20 last runs) but not regularly at 50%+ however he does pop up as the winner reasonably regularly (22.25% Strike rate on the all weather).

Advice: Back to Lay looking for 50% profit.

FALSE FAVOURITE & PLACE VALUE

FALSE FAVOURITE:

TOUR DE PARIS Wolverhampton 5.00

Just feels too short at 2.62 when the horse he beat two outings ago gets a 4lb pull for 1.5l and is sitting at nearly 3x the price not to mention that there are another 11 runners in the field that need to be beaten.

PLACE VALUE:

YELLOW LABEL Wolverhampton 6.30

Not a confident pick but an Andrew Balding newcomer with Oisin Murphy up in an 8 runner affair where the favourite hasn’t beaten anything yet and the second favourite was an encouraging 8th first time out means he doesn’t have to be anything special to be involved.

You might get 2.5+ for a place on Betfair and that’s value for me.
