#TOTD EPSOM TIPS – 1st June 2018

MAGIC WAND – The Oaks, Epsom 16.30

See NAP OF THE DAY.

UPDATE 2JUNE, 2018.
See NAP OF THE DAY.

CRACKSMAN – Coronation Cup, Epsom 15.10

Won on soft and gone from strength to strength. Can’t oppose but no value in 1/3 odds. Banker.

UPDATE 2JUNE, 2018
WINNER – Silvestre De Sousa almost stole this one but CRACKSMAN is good.

KINGS SHIELD – Surrey Stakes, Epsom 17.15

John Gosden has a fine record at Epsom and in Kings Shield he has an improving performer whose 6th in the French Guineas is the stand out piece of form in the race. Again not great value in odds at evens but should take this with a little in hand.

UPDATE 2JUNE, 2018.
Great ride by SdS while KINGS SHIELD just didn’t get to grips with the course and seemed to be hating it out there. I would give the selection another chance next time out.

GALLOWAY HILLS – Zebra Hcp, Epsom 17.50

Needed the blinkers to get him back on track with a good third last time out. Silvestre De Sousa has a fantastic record (30% strike rate) at Epsom and so in a big field he stands out. As a three year old he gets 10lbs from the older horses and this might swing things his way. His stablemate Ripp Orf under Hayley Turner and Clubbable from the in-form Richard Fahey stable are the obvious dangers. You might like to go each way on Galloway Hills but my philosophy is that SdS is either going for it or not and too often he’s lost a few places when he knows he’s beat.

UPDATE 2JUNE, 2018.
LAST – Got this one absolutely and completely wrong!! Lost out to a Jedd O’Keffee steamer. However the complete no show of both GALLOWAY HILLS and Ripp Orf will reinforce the thought that David Elseworth horses don’t do well at Epsom (5.75% lifetime strike rate)!!
